Promise to a Future Child

Dear Future Child,

Life is crazy. The world is crazy. But I’m going to make a difference through Architecture. Architecture is so expanse and gives living so much creativity.

I aspire to make a change to the way we perceive the world and design through the environment and our landscape. The environment is getting destroyed with climate change and the polluting ways that we have decided to live, but there are also ways to change this by using sustainable materials and working with our planet instead of against it. No matter where you are in the world you should have a comfortable space that is positive through design.

I deeply feel that you and many other children are misjudged and may be classed as annoying for the ways you may be playing or living your life, but I understand that this is all part of your learning. You need spaces that are challenging and places to play which people may not think are safe, but they teach you. They teach you independence and lessons which will help you in the future. I have always seen that education isn’t always about what is being learnt but the atmosphere you are placed in to become the person you are today.

When I was young and sitting in a classroom, I would look out and think why can’t I go and explore nature? Why can’t I physically touch and see things up-close? Instead they would show videos and images and it never had the same effect. There needs to be more hands on and positive energy through learning for children as that’s the best way to grow and develop. Through positivity.

Learning needs to be fun and it needs to be done in an exiting environment where each space is different from one another. I have always grown up having a love for reading and drawing and this was done by going outside and sitting in the sun to read or, going on a walk within nature and drawing the flowers I would see.  These things and so many others including life skills can be embraced through the design and the space you are in. Everything can be made entertaining and interesting.

Always understand that society has ways to teach you but its okay to be independent and different. Be you and bring positivity with you.

Yours Sincerely,

Kara Brown
